  • Ailsa Macpherson

Ailsa has taught Pilates and Gyrotonic internationally for almost a decade, from Tokyo to Berlin. She began her formal Pilates training as an apprentice to Alan Herdman, who in 1970 opened the UK's very first Pilates studio; from his more therapeutic approach, she has since also moved into the Classical tradition of the form, aiming to teach the authentic work of Joseph Pilates in a way that is accessible and non-intimidating. As a former dancer with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, she has always worked closely with clients managing hypermobility disorders, recovering from injury, or with high-level physical demands in dance or sport.

Ailsa believes that we don't just 'have' bodies, we are bodies, and she finds much joy in helping people to understand the unique set of demands and advantages that their own bodies possess; whatever your background, goals or concerns, she hopes that you will be able to come to the studio and explore what movement means to you.
